Wix Partners Journey

We launched Wix Code as a serverless integrated development environment that enabled designers and developers to create content-rich, custom websites, and robust web applications. Users could now design a front end using Wix Editor and then employ Wix Code developer tools to add advanced functionalities on the back end. Wix Code represented  a natural expansion of the Wix platform, by enabling users to develop web applications on top of their website with speed of development, scalability, and visual quality.

Velo has since evolved into a full-stack development platform that provides professionals an open platform that combines an intuitive visual builder with a built-in IDE, serverless Node.js, integrated databases, and more. All of this is backed by the secure Wix Cloud, requires zero setup time, and is continuously maintained for the user, resulting in accelerated dev velocity.

We launched the first Wix Partner Program to enable success for agencies, freelancers, and developers creating websites and providing digital solutions for clients. The program offered various benefits, resources, and tools to help Partners grow their businesses and enhance their skills on Wix. Partners were now able to access a full dashboard, obtain access to product betas, client billing, and a dedicated account manager.

Editor X, Wix’s fully responsive website creation platform, was launched specifically for advanced web designers and developers. It combined the ease of Wix's drag-and-drop interface with enhanced design capabilities, including flexible grids, advanced design tools, and CSS controls, while using Wix’s suite of business solutions.

Editor X solved several issues facing designers and web professionals, by allowing custom code integration, creating custom breakpoints, amongst other design and layout challenges. This platform catered to professionals seeking greater control and precision in web design while maintaining the user-friendly experience Wix is known for. Editor X was Wix’s first foray into creating a discrete product platform targeting more upmarket Partners building increasingly more complex and sophisticated projects.

We hosted our first ever developer’s conference, Wix DevCon, in New York City. This was a two-day event hosting 130 attendees and explored the future of web development, showcasing Wix product updates and releases, expert-led talks, tailored workshops and networking events. We introduced Wix Blocks, our first set of open eCommerce APIs, and a Velo integration with Git and Github. We received incredible attendance levels and feedback, demonstrating Wix’s increasing footprint within the professional community.

Wix introduced Blocks, our new high velocity ecosystem and low code tool that enables the design, coding, and deployment of responsive, highly-customizable, and reusable web applications and widgets across Wix sites. With Blocks, professional designers and developers can create an application with the ease of drag and drop and then package it as a full application with the power of the Velo code, collections and back-end code in one powerful solution. Wix Blocks allows for an improved user experience as developers and designers can work concurrently and collaboratively on the same project without strong dependencies on each other, through the separation of business logic and UX/UI – enabling complete optimization of web development and management.

Our cornerstone Partner product is Wix Studio, a powerful and first-of-its-kind web creation platform designed specifically for agencies and freelancers. Underpinned by years of collaboration with our agency partners, Studio offers a newly-designed development and creation editor with advanced code capabilities, the latest AI technology, multi-site management workspaces, client kits, and access to new monetization opportunities, all helping to drive efficiency and enabling the creation of advanced websites at scale. Studio has proven to be Wix’s highest-performing product in recent history with more than 500,000 agencies and freelancers using the platform in the first 6 months of launch (with nearly half of all Studio accounts created by Partners completely new to Wix).

We are continuously innovating the Studio product to introduce additional capabilities and improvements following feedback received from our Partners. Improvements we have implemented include new design tools, customer feedback capabilities, and more significantly, the launch of a Figma to Studio plugin in June 2024. This plugin was our highest-requested feature from our design community and allows Partners to seamlessly export their Figma designs into the Wix Studio platform to create dynamic web experiences – saving them valuable time and resources in the creation process.

We introduced a refreshed revenue share program for Partners to expand their earning opportunity and better empower their success and growth on Wix, as well as maximize cohort bookings value and optimize Studio uptake. This refreshed program is part of the Wix Partner Program designed to empower professionals and fuel their business growth. The new program reflects expanded revenue share opportunities on our website packages, including Studio, as well as revenue share on additional products such as Facebook and Google Ads, Logos and others. Importantly, Partners can now earn revenue share on all transactions processed through Wix Payments on eligible client sites, making the earnings potential for Wix Partners truly unlimited.
